Hello, Joe here. If SunSp.t is a gallery that houses my home-made audio-works, then the Jofi series is the opening of a new exhibit. Pianos and Synthesizers sing the melodies, and the drums are performed by fingers on keyboards. The songs are influenced by Beat culture and Hip Hop, from Detroit to New York, and from Japan to LA. I perform my Jazz/Funk/Folk melodies over top, resulting in my own little genre hybrid.
Jofi 1 is a smattering of beats I made during the first year of the pandemic, featuring a near-chronological tracklist. The minimalist, Sly Stone-influenced Quarantine Jam 1 kicks things off, followed up by the RnB inflected 3.29.20. Forest Level is an electronic dance party with Robert Randolph-inspired Moog melodies. Step On is a hard-hitting funk escapade performed on a combo clavinet/synthesizer sound; it combines an Arabic Classical musical influence with P Funk, West Coast G Funk, and 2000s Atlanta-inspired drums. Universal Expansion is an abstract, linear journey, inspired by Flying Lotus. Samurai Shampoo closes things out with a mellow, Nujabes-influenced groove and string melody influenced by Egyptian music. I hope you enjoy this assortment of creations!
